Besiktas aims to control the middle of the pitch through a compact 4-5-1. This formation is built to play a high press and use quick transitions once the ball is recovered. The lineup seeks to suffocate the opponent in the middle third before launching attacks toward the lone forward.

Mert acts as the last line of defense in goal. The back four functions as a flat back four that can shift to create a narrow defensive block when under pressure. Paulista and emirhan operate as the central defenders, with Paulista providing aerial strength and emirhan acting as the covering defender. On the flanks, svenson plays as a defensive wing back to provide stability, while masuaku acts as an attacking wing back to help spread the play. The unit works to hold a high line and press the opposition.

The midfield operates as a five man unit designed to squeeze the space. Musrati sits as a single pivot to shield the defense and recycle possession. Beside him, gedson acts as a carrier who drives forward with the ball to break the lines. In the advanced roles, rafa plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, while rashica and x occupy the half spaces to connect the lines. This group is tasked to win it back high up the pitch and press in pairs to force errors.

Immobile leads the line as a lone striker and works as a pressing centre forward to harass the opposition back line. He is known for his movement in the box and ability to find space between defenders. The attack relies on the midfielders to feed him through the lines or via crosses from the wings. When Besiktas wins the ball, the wingers and attacking midfielders push up to support Immobile, creating combinations in tight spaces or running in behind.

One major advantage for Besiktas is the numerical superiority in midfield that allows them to dominate possession in the center. The team can also use the overlapping runs of masuaku to create wide overloads. This formation allows for great compactness when defending, making it hard for opponents to play through the middle.

This 4-5-1 lineup is built for a high pressing game that relies on rapid transitions. It is best suited for matches against teams that prefer to build play slowly from the back.
