Armani stays behind a very high line to act as a sweeper when the team pushes forward. The central defensive pairing consists of Pezzella and P. Díaz, who must stay alert to cover long balls played into the space behind them. Pezzella uses his aerial strength to defend against direct long balls, while P. Díaz works to intercept passes and stop runners in behind. Because there are only two central defenders, the unit relies on the midfield to squeeze the space and prevent the opposition from playing through the middle.

The midfield works as a five man block to control the center of the pitch. E. Díaz sits in a single pivot role to shield the two defenders and pick up runners in front of the back line. Bustos and Villagra act as the engine, with Bustos looking to carry the ball forward and Villagra working to win the second ball. Aliendro and Simón operate in the half spaces, positioned to press aggressively to win the ball high and link the midfield to the attack. This group allows River to stay compact and control the tempo.

The attack is built around three forwards who press from the front to pin the last defender. Bareiro acts as the central striker to hold up the ball and provide a presence in the box. Echeverri plays as an inverted winger on the left, looking to cut inside and create chances, while Mastantuono provides width and creative threat on the right wing. This front three works in combinations to split the defence with through balls and create runs in behind.
