The midfield is built around a central pairing of Bangoura and Hrosovsky. Bangoura and Hrosovsky act as the engine, with one often working to shield the defence while the other looks to carry the ball forward. They are supported by Kayembe and Nkuba, who play as wing backs. Kayembe and Nkuba provide the width in the formation, pushing high to support the attack and tracking back to help the defenders. This midfield setup connects the defensive line to the front three, ensuring the team can recycle possession or break quickly.

Up front, KRC Genk utilizes three attackers to stretch the defence. Arokodare acts as the central striker, using his presence to hold up the ball and link play. He is flanked by Bonsu Baah on the left and Steuckers on the right. Bonsu Baah and Steuckers act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create goal scoring chances, often leaving space for Kayembe and Nkuba to overlap. The front three press the opposition back line constantly to force a long ball or a mistake.

One major advantage for KRC Genk is the ability to create wide overloads by using the wing backs to double up with the attackers. Another strength is the capacity to press in coordinated waves, making it very difficult for opponents to build play from the back.
