Hrosovsky works to shield the defence and intercept passes, while Bangoura acts as a carrier to drive the ball forward. On the flanks, Kayembe and Nkuba act as wide midfielders, providing the engine for the team. Kayembe pushes up to support the attack, whereas Nkuba provides the width needed to create overloads. These four players link the defence to the front line by recycling possession or playing through the lines.

In the attacking third, KRC Genk utilizes three forwards to pin the opposition back line. Arokodare acts as the target man, holding up the ball to allow others to join the play. Bonsu Baah plays as an inverted winger on the left, cutting inside to find shooting lanes, while Steuckers operates on the right to whip it in from wide areas. This front line uses combinations to break the line, with the wingers making runs in behind to support the striker.
