The midfield functions with a central pairing supported by wide players. Schoofs and Ouattara work in the middle to control the area. This pairing connects the defensive and attacking lines, with Schoofs providing the link and Ouattara working to win the second ball and press in a mid-block to deny the turn. Pflücke and Foulon provide the width on the flanks to spread the play. On the right, Pflücke acts to overlap the winger, while Foulon pushes up on the left to help progress the ball and recycle possession.
