Union SG Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Moris · Mac Allister · Machida (Burgess) · Leysen · Castro-Montes · Sadiki (El Hadj) · Vanhoutte (Sadiki) · Puertas (El Hadj) · Teklab · Fuseini (Rodríguez) · Eckert (Kabangu)Union SG seeks to control the tempo of the match through a 3-5-2 formation. This lineup is built to play a vertical style of football that focuses on quick transitions and dominance in the middle of the park. By utilizing a compact system, Union SG can shift easily between attacking and defending while maintaining control of the ball.
Moris sits between the posts to command the area. The defensive line consists of a back three with Machida acting as the central anchor to win the header and clear the lines. Leysen plays as the left centre back to cover space, while Mac Allister operates on the right to provide cover. This back three functions to protect the goalkeeper and allows the team to play out from the back with confidence.
The midfield is a dense engine room consisting of a central unit and two holding players. Puertas and Sadiki act as a double pivot to shield the defence and win the second ball. In front of them, Vanhoutte, Castro-Montes, and Teklab operate in the half spaces to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Vanhoutte helps to recycle possession, while Castro-Montes and Teklab look to carry the ball forward to break the line of the opposition.
Up front, the team uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the defence. Fuseini and Eckert work together to press the opposition back line and create movement. Fuseini can hold up the ball to bring others into play, while Eckert looks to make runs in behind to catch defenders off guard. The two attackers combine in tight spaces to create chances, often relying on the midfielders to deliver passes that split the defence with a through ball.
One main advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in midfield, which allows Union SG to dominate the central area of the pitch. The presence of five players in the middle makes it hard for opponents to find passing lanes. Another strength is the ability to press in a mid-block, squeezing the space between the lines to win the ball back high up the pitch.
This 3-5-2 formation provides a balance of defensive solidity and attacking intent. It is best suited for matches against teams that play with a single pivot or those that struggle to handle central congestion.
