The midfield works as a flat four to protect the central zone. Alban and Tom occupy the central roles, where they work to win the second ball and recycle possession. Alban focuses on shielding the defense, while Tom looks to carry the ball forward when space opens up. On the flanks, Ingli and Edon sit in the wide areas to provide cover and help the wing backs. This unit must compress the midfield to prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.

Albania uses a lone striker in Alfred to lead the line. Alfred acts as a target man to hold up the ball and bring the midfielders into the play. When the team wins possession, Ingli and Edon push up to support him, creating a front three during transitions. The wingers look to stretch the defense and deliver crosses as the team moves from a low block into an attacking phase.

This formation offers great compactness when defending in a mid block. The five man back line makes it very difficult for opponents to find gaps in the middle. By using Kash and Edison to provide width, Albania can also create wide overloads once they transition into attack.
