Legia prioritizes a high press and vertical movement to catch opponents off guard. This 3-5-2 formation is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and transition into attack instantly. The goal is to use high energy to squeeze the space and force mistakes in the opposition half.

Tobiasz acts as the last line of defense, directing the unit from the back. The defensive unit uses a back three that functions as a high line to keep the pitch small. Augustyniak sits as the central defender to hold the line and provide cover, while Barcia and Pankov play as wide centre-backs. These two are tasked to step up and intercept passes or cover the space if the midfield is bypassed. The three work together to defend zonally and ensure they win the second ball.

Vinagre and Wszołek provide the midfield foundation for the Legia lineup as a double pivot to shield the defence. They sit in front of the back three to deny the pivot of the opposition. Goncalves acts as the carrier in the center, responsible to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Ahead of him, Kapustka and Luquinhas operate in the half spaces. They look to carry the ball forward and play through the lines to find the attackers. This central group can press aggressively in a mid-block to win possession back quickly.

Up front, the team relies on a partnership of Gual and Kramer. They act as two forwards who work to pin the last defender and create runs in behind. Gual and Kramer focus on link-up play between the lines to bring others into the game. When the team builds in possession, Kapustka and Luquinhas push high to provide width and support the strikers. This movement is designed to create cutbacks from the byline or allow the players to arrive late into the box.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages, particularly the numerical superiority in midfield. By having five players in the center, the team can compress the midfield and dominate possession. Another strength is the ability to press in pairs from the front, which can force a long ball from the opponent. This makes it difficult for the opposition to play out from the back.

The 3-5-2 formation is a high intensity system designed for aggressive ball recovery and rapid attacking transitions. It is most effective when facing teams that struggle to play under pressure or rely on a slow build up.
