Starting Lineup

HIMENEU · HADES · CÁRON · POSEIDON · PÃ · APOLO · EROS · ARES · PRIAPO · HERMES · ZEUS

Greece plays with a high press identity using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and attack vertically. The goal is to squeeze the space and force the opposition into mistakes in their own half.

HIMENEU stays in goal to organize the defensive line. The back four operates as a flat line with HADES and CÁRON acting as the central defenders. HADES and CÁRON must be dominant in the air and cover for the wide players. POSEIDON and PÃ play as attacking full backs who can push high up the pitch. When the team is out of possession, POSEIDON and PÃ must track back to form a compact defensive block.

The midfield features a three-man formation with a deep-lying playmaker pairing and an attacking ten. ARES and EROS shield the defense and recycle possession. ARES and EROS connect the defensive line to the attack by playing short from the back. APOLO plays as an attacking ten in the hole to support the striker. APOLO looks to receive on the half-turn, play through the lines, and arrive late into the box.

The attack uses three players across the front to stretch the opposition. PRIAPO acts as a lone striker who works to hold up the ball and pin the last defender. ZEUS and HERMES play as wide attackers who look to cut inside and create central presence. ZEUS and HERMES also stretch the defense by pulling wide. This allows the team to create runs in behind or use the width to deliver crosses from the byline.

One major strength of this Greece lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using the front three and APOLO, the team can trigger a press to win it back high up the pitch. Another advantage is the speed of transition when the ball is recovered. This allows ZEUS and HERMES to exploit space and hit in behind on the transition.

This 4-3-3 lineup is built to dominate games through high intensity and constant pressure. It is best suited for facing opponents that play a high line and leave space for runners to exploit.
