Starting Lineup

Ziereis · Smolcic · Taloverov · Lawal · Bello · Stojkovic · Horvath · Jovicic · M. Ljubicic · R. Zulj · Usor

LASK aims to play a high press and use quick transitions with a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball back high up the pitch and immediately look to exploit spaces behind the opposition defence. The team relies on intense pressure and verticality to unsettle opponents.

Lawal stays between the posts to anchor the defensive unit. The back line consists of a back three featuring Smolcic, Taloverov, and Ziereis. Smolcic acts as the left centre-back to cover the space behind the wing back, while Taloverov and Ziereis provide strength in the middle. The defenders defend zonally to maintain a compact block and work together to squeeze the space between the lines.

The midfield functions as a central block with Jovicic and Horvath operating in the middle. Jovicic and Horvath work to win the second ball and connect the defensive line to the attackers. They hold the line when defending and try to progress through the thirds once possession is regained. On the flanks, Stojkovic and Bello act as wide midfielders to provide width and track back to help the defenders.

LASK utilizes three attackers to stretch the defence. M. Ljubicic leads the line as a pressing centre-forward to pin the last defender. On the wings, R. Zulj and Usor act as wide attackers to create chances. R. Zulj and Usor often look to cut inside to find space in the half-spaces while M. Ljubicic works to find the feet of the striker or run in behind. The front three press from the front to force a long ball from the opponent.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads when Stojkovic and Bello push high to overlap the wingers. There is also a high capacity to press in coordinated waves to win it back high up the pitch. This setup provides compactness when defending in a mid-block, making it hard for opponents to play through the lines.

The 3-4-3 formation for LASK is a high intensity system designed to dominate through pressing and rapid transitions. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play out from the back under heavy pressure.
