River Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Armani · Pezzela · Paulo · Enzo · Peña · Bustos · Acuña · Echeverri · Mastantouno · Meza · BorjaRiver focuses on high intensity and vertical play through a 3-3-4 formation. This lineup aims to overwhelm the opposition by packing the final third and using heavy pressure to win the ball back high up the pitch. The goal is to force turnovers in dangerous areas to catch the opponent out of position.
Armani sits between the posts to command the area. The back three consists of Pezzela, Paulo, and Enzo. Pezzela acts as the central figure, while Paulo and Enzo operate as the wide centre backs to cover the flanks. Pezzela is dominant in the air and provides leadership to the defensive unit. This back three must hold a high line to squeeze the space and ensure the team stays compact when the ball is lost.
A three man midfield provides the engine for River. Peña operates as the central pivot to shield the defence and recycle possession. On either side, Acuña and Bustos act as carriers to drive forward with the ball and connect the defence to the attack. Acuña brings high pressing intensity to disrupt the opponent in the middle third. These three work together to win the second ball and quickly distribute it to the front four.
The attacking unit uses four players to stretch the defence. Borja acts as the main target man, using his strength to hold up the ball and win headers. Mastantouno plays as a second striker in the hole to link play between the lines. On the wings, Echeverri and Meza operate as wide attackers. Echeverri prefers to cut inside to create chances, while Meza provides width to pull defenders apart. This front line is designed to make constant runs in behind and arrive late into the box to finish moves.
This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. By having four attackers and three midfielders, River can create numerical superiority in the attacking third. The setup also allows for quick transitions where the team can move from a mid block to a full attack in seconds. This creates many chances for one on one situations for the wide players.
River relies on an aggressive offensive mindset to dictate the tempo of the match. This formation is best suited for games where the team needs to break down a deep block or dominate an opponent through sheer volume of attacks.
