Starting Lineup

DONNARUMMA · MARQUINHOS · MUKIELE · HERNANDEZ · MENDES · UGARTE · VITINHA · BARCOLA · RAMOS · KOLO-MUANI · ZAÏRE-EMERY

PSG focuses on winning the ball high up the pitch and playing with high intensity through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate through possession and quick verticality once the ball is recovered. The team aims to control the tempo by moving the ball between technical players while maintaining enough aggression to squeeze the space in the opposition half.

DONNARUMMA sits between the posts to command the area and act as the first point of distribution. The back line operates as a flat back four that can step up to squeeze the opposition. MARQUINHOS acts as a dominant presence in the air and a ball playing defender who can start attacks, while HERNANDEZ provides cover and can carry the ball forward. MUKIELE provides defensive stability on the right, allowing MENDES to push up as an attacking full back on the left to provide width.

The midfield relies on a single pivot to control the center of the park. UGARTE acts as the shield for the defense, using his high pressing intensity to win the ball back quickly. In front of him, ZAÏRE-EMERY and VITINHA operate as two central midfielders who connect the defensive and attacking lines. VITINHA looks to recycle possession and find the feet of teammates, while ZAÏRE-EMERY uses his driving runs to carry the ball forward and break the line.

PSG employs three attackers across the front to stretch the opposition defense. RAMOS acts as the lone striker and a pressing centre-forward who fights for the ball to pin the last defender. On the wings, BARCOLA and KOLO-MUANI act as inverted wingers who cut inside to create goalscoring chances. This movement creates space for the full backs to overlap, while the front three work to trigger a press as soon as the ball is lost.

A major strength of this PSG formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to force a long ball from the opponent. The midfield trio provides numerical superiority in the center, making it difficult for teams to play through the lines. Additionally, the movement of BARCOLA and KOLO-MUANI allows the team to isolate wide players in one on one situations when the opposition fails to track back.

This 4-3-3 formation is designed to overwhelm opponents through high pressure and ball control. It is best suited for games against teams that try to play out from the back and can be punished by quick transitions.
