Zenit focuses on sitting deep and hitting teams on the transition, playing a compact 5-4-1. This formation is built to deny space in the middle and force opponents into wide areas where they can be doubled up on. The lineup relies on a solid defensive block to absorb pressure before looking to exploit gaps left behind an advancing opposition.

Mafeo starts between the posts to organize the defensive line. The back five features a central trio of W, C (C), and Wilczy, who act as the main shield for the goal. As captain, C provides leadership to keep the line straight and ensure the defenders hold the line together. Gustaw plays as the right wing back to provide width, while Artur acts as the left wing back. These wide defenders must track back quickly when losing possession to prevent crosses, while the central defenders like Wilczy and W focus on winning the header and clearing the lines during sustained pressure.

The midfield operates in a flat four to maintain compactness. Nino and Nurik occupy the central roles, acting as a double pivot to protect the back five. Nino works to intercept passes and shield the defense, while Nurik tries to win the second ball and carry the ball forward. On the flanks, Duglas and S provide the width in the midfield line. Duglas pushes up to support the left side, whereas S looks to drive forward and cross when the opportunity arises. This unit works to compress the midfield and deny the turn to any attacking players in the center.

In the final third, Zenit relies on a lone striker, Inżynieria, to lead the line. Inżynieria must work hard to press from the front and pin the last defender to create space for the midfielders. The attack is built through quick transitions where the wing backs, Artur and Gustaw, push up to provide service. The team looks to find the feet of the striker or hit in behind on the transition to catch the opposition defense out of position. Link up play between the lines is key when the midfielders arrive late into the box.

One major advantage for Zenit is the ability to maintain a narrow defensive block that is very difficult to break through centrally. The formation also offers the potential for wide overloads when Artur and Duglas combine on the left flank. This allows the team to win the ball back high up the pitch if they can trigger a press in the wide areas.
