Leeds aim to play with a high press and win the ball back high up the pitch. This 3-5-2 formation is built to be vertical and focus on quick transitions. The goal is to squeeze the space and force mistakes from the opposition deep in their own half.

Meslier stays in goal to command the box and clear the lines. The defense works with a back three of Srtuijk, Wöber, and Rodon. Srtuijk plays as the left centre-back to cover the space when the wide players push up. Wöber and Rodon hold the line in a narrow defensive block to win the header and defend zonally. The unit works to keep the lines compact and deny the turn to any oncoming attackers.

The midfield relies on a three-man midfield with a carrier and a holding pair. Ampadu and Gruev operate as a double pivot to shield the defence and pick up runners. Aaronson plays as an attacking ten behind the strikers to connect the lines and carry the ball forward. D. James and J. Firpo provide the width, acting as wide midfielders who can overlap the winger or track back to defend. This formation allows the team to compress the midfield and win the second ball.

The attack uses two forwards in a partnership to lead the press. Gnonto and Piroe work as a pressing centre-forward duo to press from the front and disrupt the opposition. Gnonto will cut inside and look for the through ball, while Piroe aims to find the feet of the striker and hold up the ball. They want to break quickly and hit in behind on the transition. Their movement creates chances for late runs into the box from the midfield.

A major tactical strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using Aaronson and the front two, Leeds can trigger a press in the final third to win it back high up the pitch. Another advantage is the wide overloads provided by D. James and J. Firpo when they push forward. This creates many options to switch play or deliver early crosses into the area.

This lineup is a high intensity system built to play with directness. It is best suited for facing teams that try to play out from the back and leave space behind their defenders.
