Partizan focuses on a defensive solidity and directness in a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and catch opponents on the break using a strong defensive base. The team looks to win the second ball and move the ball quickly into the forward line to exploit spaces left by advancing opponents.

Wlado acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive unit operates as a back five where Sasa and Nikola act as the central trio. Sasa and Nikola provide aerial strength and cover the width of the penalty area, while Krystian stays as a left-sided centre back to pick up runners. The wide defenders, M and S, play as attacking wing backs. M pushes high to provide width on the right, while S covers the left flank. When the team loses the ball, these wing backs drop back to form a compact block that is hard to break down.

The midfield works as a three man midfield with a carrier. Mirosław sits in the middle to connect the defensive and attacking lines, often dropping deep to receive from the centre backs. A and Z operate on either side of him to press in a mid-block and win possession. A carries the ball forward to link play, while Z works to intercept passes and shield the back five. This midfield unit stays narrow to force the opposition wide and deny the turn in central areas.

Partizan uses two forwards in a partnership to lead the attack. Aleks and D operate as a pair, often looking to run in behind the opposition defense. Aleks works to hold up the ball and link up with the midfield, while D looks to make runs into the channels. The wing backs, M and S, provide the width by overlapping the forwards to deliver crosses. This movement forces the opposition back line to stretch, creating space for Aleks and D to find space between the lines or strike in transition.

The formation offers significant tactical advantages, particularly in defensive compactness when the team sits in a low block. By using three central defenders, Partizan can easily defend against crosses and aerial threats. Another strength is the ability to create wide overloads when M and S join the attack, which can catch a single opponent out of position. The speed of transition from the midfield to the two forwards allows for quick counters.
