Bristol Rovers want to play with high intensity and verticality. They use a 3-5-2 formation to control the middle of the pitch and dominate central areas. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and strike fast during transitions. The goal is to squeeze the space and never let the opposition breathe.

GARAY sits between the posts to command the area and organize the defensive unit. The back three consists of LOOSE, RAMIREZ, and BAEZ. LOOSE and BAEZ act as wide centre-backs who can step up to support the midfield when needed. RAMIREZ stays central to cover the space, win headers, and protect the middle. This unit works to hold a compact block and set the offside trap when the opposition tries to play through them.

The midfield acts as the engine for Bristol Rovers. BERMANI sits in front of the defence to shield the back line and win the second ball. ALMIRON and VILLORDO occupy the central areas to drive forward and carry the ball into the half-spaces. They are joined by STIVANELLO and GRIGOLATO who operate in the wide areas to provide width. These players work to link the defence to the attack by playing through the lines and recycling possession to find better openings.

Up front, CACERES and SOTO play as a partnership of two forwards. They work in combinations to stretch the defence and create chaos. CACERES can hold up the ball to find the feet of SOTO or lay it off to runners, while SOTO looks to hit in behind on the transition. STIVANELLO and GRIGOLATO push high to overlap the opposition full-backs and create overloads. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball and win it back quickly.

A significant tactical advantage is the numerical superiority in the center which allows the team to compress the midfield and control the tempo. STIVANELLO and GRIGOLATO create constant threats through overloads when they push up to join the attack. This formation also allows the team to adjust the pressing height to catch the opponent off guard.

This 3-5-2 formation is defined by its high pressing and quick vertical movement. It is best suited for games against opponents who struggle to play out from the back or have narrow midfields.
