LASK operates with an extremely aggressive and vertical identity using a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm the opposition through constant pressure and quick transitions. The intent is to pin the opponent in their own half and win the ball high up the pitch to strike quickly.

Lawal acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive unit is minimal, consisting of a central duo of Ziereis and Taloverov. These two must play a very high line to keep the team compact and squeeze the space between the lines. Ziereis and Taloverov need to be comfortable playing out from the back and stepping into midfield to provide extra support when the team has possession. They must also be ready to cover large areas of ground if the opposition breaks quickly on the counter.

The midfield is a massive engine room containing five players. Stojkovic and Smolcic form a double pivot to shield the defense and win the second ball. Jovicic and Berisha operate as two eights in the half spaces, driving forward with the ball and connecting the defensive unit to the attack. R. Zulj plays as an attacking ten in the hole to create chances and arrive late into the box. This group allows LASK to maintain control and recycle possession effectively.

The attacking front three provides constant threat in the final third. Usor and Horvath play as wide attackers, either hugging the touchline or cutting inside to find space. M. Ljubicic leads the line as a central striker to hold up the ball and link up play with the midfielders. The forwards press from the front to force the opposition into mistakes. This formation creates many runs in behind and allows for quick passing combinations to bypass the midfield.

This formation offers massive numerical superiority in the center of the pitch. By flooding the middle, the team can easily find passing lanes and play through the lines. Another strength is the ability to press in coordinated waves. The proximity of the five midfielders to the three attackers makes it very difficult for opponents to play out from the back without losing possession.

The 2-5-3 is a daring formation designed for total attacking dominance. It is most effective when facing opponents that sit deep and need to be forced into errors through relentless pressure.
