Starting Lineup

Subu (Man) · J (SC) · Abhi (Rout) · P. (D) · Chiran (Ray) · P.P/ (Satyam) · Aqib (Khan) · Jasveer (Raj) · Biswa (Manthan) · Ashu (Das) · Subham (Jyoti)

Odisha aims to play with a high press and quick transitions through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to hunt the ball high up the pitch and use the width of the field to stretch the opposition. The team looks to win the ball back quickly and move the ball forward with speed to catch the defense out of position.

Subham plays between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back four operates as a flat defensive line to maintain compactness. Biswa and Jasveer act as the central defenders, where Biswa provides physical presence and Jasveer is tasked to cover the space behind when the line steps up. Ashu and Aqib act as full backs, with Ashu looking to overlap the winger and Aqib providing cover on the left side. The whole unit works to squeeze the space between the lines and defend zonally.

A three-man midfield connects the defense to the attack. P. occupies the central role to shield the defense and recycle possession. Chiran and P.P/ act as the two interior players, where Chiran works to drive forward with the ball and P.P/ looks to arrive late into the box to support the play. This group works to press in a mid-block when the ball is lost, ensuring the midfield remains difficult to bypass.

The attack relies on three players across the front to pin the last defender. J acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and find the feet of the midfielders. Subu and Abhi operate as wide wingers, with Subu hugging the touchline to spread the play and Abhi looking to cut inside to create goal threats. These attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition and look to hit in behind on the transition.

Odisha gains a massive advantage through the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it hard for opponents to play out from the back. The formation also allows for wide overloads when Ashu and Abhi combine on the right flank. This creates space in the middle for the midfielders to operate.

This 4-3-3 formation focuses on aggressive pressing and rapid forward movement. It is best suited for matches against teams that struggle to play under pressure and rely heavily on long balls.
