The attack is incredibly potent with four players pushing the line. Wirtz and Hofmann play as wide attackers, with Wirtz often cutting inside to create chances. Hofmann stretches the defence by pulling wide to create space. In the center, Boniface and Schick form a two man strike partnership. Boniface acts as a target man to hold up the ball, while Schick looks to make runs in behind the defenders. This front four works to pin the last defender and create chaos through constant movement and combinations.

One major advantage for Bayer Leverkusen is the numerical superiority in the attacking third. By pushing Frimpong and Grimaldo high, the team creates wide overloads that force the opposition to defend deep. Another strength is the ability to press in coordinated waves, using the front four to trigger a press that the midfield can immediately support. This makes it very difficult for opponents to build play from the back without making mistakes.
