Starting Lineup

Pele operates on the right of the midfield to provide energy and makes late runs into the box to support the attack.

The attack features two forwards in a partnership with Ronaldo and Messi leading the line. Ronaldo acts as a pressing centre forward who looks to hit in behind on the transition. Messi plays as a second striker in the hole, often dropping deeper to link up play between the lines and find the feet of the striker. This duo creates constant movement, with Messi looking to play through the lines to find Ronaldo making runs. The team attacks in combinations to isolate wide players in one on one situations.

One major advantage for Chelsea is the ability to control the game through the passing quality of Kroos and Zidane. The formation also allows for wide overloads when Marcelo pushes up to overlap the winger. This creates numerical superiority in the attacking third and forces the opposition to pull players out of position. The squad can also quickly transition from a mid-block to a high press to win it back high up the pitch.
