Starting Lineup

Meslier · Rodon · Struijk · Firpo · Bogle · Gruev · Ampadu · Aaronson · Joseph · Gnonto · Ramazani

Leeds aims to play with a high press and quick verticality using a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and hit the opposition before they can settle. The team relies on intense running and directness to move the ball into the final third.

Meslier plays between the posts to organize the back line. The defense operates as a flat back four where Bogle acts as an attacking full back to provide width on the right. Firpo pushes forward on the left to support the wingers, while Struijk and Rodon operate as the central defenders. Struijk acts as a ball playing defender to help play out from the back, and Rodon uses his aerial strength to defend set pieces and clear the lines.

The midfield functions as a three man midfield with a carrier and a defensive presence. Ampadu acts as the single pivot to shield the defence and intercept passes. Gruev works alongside him to connect the defensive and attacking lines and win the second ball. Aaronson plays as an attacking ten behind the striker, often pressing aggressively to win the ball high and making late runs into the box to support the attack.

In the attacking phase, Leeds utilizes three attackers across the front. Joseph acts as the pressing centre forward to pin the last defender and hold up the ball. Gnonto and Ramazani play as inverted wingers who cut inside to create central overloads. Gnonto uses his dribbling style to beat defenders one on one, while Ramazani looks to find the feet of the striker or pull wide to stretch the defence. The goal is to use the movement of the front three to create runs in behind.

This formation offers Leeds the ability to press high in coordinated waves to force a long ball from the opposition. The team can also create wide overloads when Bogle and Firpo push up to overlap the winger. These movements allow the team to squeeze the space and dominate the middle of the park.

Leeds uses this 4-3-3 formation to drive transitions and sustain pressure through high intensity. It is a setup best suited for games where the team wants to dictate the tempo through aggressive ball recovery.
