Osasuna aims to play a high pressing and vertical style of football with a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to hunt the ball high up the pitch and quickly hit teams in transition. The intent is to stretch the defence by using a heavy front line to pin the opposition back.

Herrera operates between the posts to start the build up. In front of him, a flat back four provides the defensive foundation. Bretones plays as the right back to provide width while Arezo covers the left side. Herrando and Catena form the central pair, with Herrando acting as a ball playing defender to help play short from the back. Catena stays more central to protect the space behind the midfield. The unit works to squeeze the space between the lines when the team moves into a mid-block.

A double pivot controls the center of the pitch to provide stability. Torro and Munoz occupy the two central roles, acting as the engine room for Osasuna. Torro works to win the second ball and cover ground, while Munoz connects the defensive and attacking lines. These two must work hard to track back and prevent counters. They also look to intercept passes before the opponent can find the forwards. Their role is to protect the back four and recycle possession quickly to the wide players.

The attacking front line is designed to be aggressive and direct. Budimir acts as the target man, using his aerial strength to hold up the ball and contest long balls. Oroz plays as the second striker in the hole to find space between the lines. On the wings, Bryan Zaragoza and Moi Gomez provide massive width. Bryan Zaragoza looks to cut inside and drive towards the goal, while Moi Gomez stays wide to deliver crosses. This setup creates constant pressure on the opposition back line through combinations in the final third.

This formation offers several tactical advantages. Osasuna can create wide overloads when the full backs push up to support the wingers. The heavy presence of four attackers allows the team to press in coordinated waves to win the ball high up the pitch. This setup also creates a lot of pressure on the opposing centre backs, often forcing them into mistakes.
