Boca aims to control the tempo and push the opposition back through an aggressive 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to play with a high press and heavy verticality to catch teams on the turn. The main goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and move it forward as fast as possible.

Santiago Mele acts as the goalkeeper, starting the build up from the back. The defensive unit relies on a high line with only two central defenders, Valentín Gómez and Matías Moreno, to hold the position. These two must be very quick to cover the space behind them and intercept any long balls. Because they play with such a small back line, they must defend zonally and stay narrow to prevent any through balls from splitting them.

The midfield is a dense block designed to control the center of the pitch. Leonardo Godoy sits in the single pivot role to shield the defense and win the second ball. He is joined by Blanco and William Alarcón who provide the engine in the central areas. Blanco and Alarcón work to move the ball between the lines and support the press. Garro and Martegani act as two tens in the half spaces, looking to arrive late into the box or find the feet of the striker.

Up front, the team uses three attackers to pin the last defender. Adolfo Gaich operates as a lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and lead the press from the front. Alan Velasco and Prestianni occupy the wide areas to stretch the defense. Velasco often looks to cut inside to create central threats, while Prestianni works to get to the byline to whip it in. The movement of these three is designed to create overlaps and quick combinations in tight spaces.

One major advantage of this formation is the numerical superiority in the middle of the park. With five players occupying the central zones, Boca can easily dominate possession and squeeze the space. The team can also launch waves of pressure that force the opponent into mistakes. The high level of compactness in the center makes it very hard for opponents to play through the lines.

This 2-5-3 formation is a high risk, high reward lineup built for total dominance. It is best suited for matches against opponents who play a low block and struggle to deal with constant pressure.
