Starting Lineup

L. Kalinić · Juranović · Tomasov · Vukušić · Kouassi · A. Erceg · Milović · F. Bradarić · Radošević · Melnjak · F. Tudor

Hajduk looks to play a high tempo, vertical style of football with a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup aims to stretch the opposition by pushing many players high up the pitch to create constant threats in the final third. The intent is to win the ball high up the pitch and transition quickly to catch the opposition defense out of position.

L. Kalinić sits between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back four functions as a flat line, with Juranović and Melnjak acting as full backs who can push up to provide width. Milović and F. Tudor operate as the central defenders, where Milović provides coverage and F. Tudor uses his physical presence to win the header during defensive phases. The unit must hold the line carefully to avoid being caught by long balls behind them.

The midfield operates with a double pivot consisting of Radošević and F. Bradarić. These two players work to shield the defense and recycle possession to maintain control. Radošević helps to connect the defensive and attacking lines, while F. Bradarić works to win the second ball in the middle of the park. They must stay disciplined to cover the space left behind when the full backs push forward.

Hajduk utilizes four attackers to pin the opposition back. A. Erceg and Vukušić operate as two central forwards, working in combinations to trouble the center backs. Kouassi and Tomasov play as wide wingers who aim to cut inside or pull wide to create space for others. This front line is designed to press from the front, forcing the opposition to play long and allowing the defensive unit to intercept the ball.

This 4-2-4 formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to create wide overloads and numerical superiority in the attacking third. By using four players in the final third, Hajduk can isolate wide players in one on one situations. The heavy presence in the box also makes it difficult for opponents to defend against crosses and quick combinations.

Hajduk relies on a high intensity, attacking identity to overwhelm opponents. This formation is best suited for games where the team needs to chase a result or exploit a high defensive line.
