The front line uses three attackers to pin the opposition back. MARTINELLI stays wide on the left to stretch the defense, while SAKA plays on the right and looks to cut inside to create chances. HAVERTZ leads the attack as a lone striker who can drop into the hole to link up play and find space between the lines. This attacking unit works to create runs in behind and isolate wide players in one on one situations. They use the width provided by the wingers to create space for HAVERTZ to arrive late into the box.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages including numerical superiority in the midfield. By having five players in the middle, Arsenal can easily outnumber opponents and control the tempo of the game. The team can also press in coordinated waves from the front line through the midfield. This allows them to squeeze the space and force a long ball from the opposition while winning it back high up the pitch.
