Villar sits in goal to provide the foundation for the defence. The back line consists of a small duo, with Starfeld and Domínguez acting as the two central defenders. They must play a high line to keep the team compact and manage the vast space in front of them. Starfeld and Domínguez serve as ball playing defenders who are required to play short from the back to start attacks. They must be ready to step up to catch attackers offside and use their positioning to cover the wide areas when the midfield shifts.

The midfield is a massive five man unit that controls the centre of the field. M.Alonso and Mingueza form a double pivot to shield the defence and sit in front of the two centre backs. Beltran and Sotelo operate as the two interior midfielders, working to carry the ball forward and connect the defence to the attack. Alvarez plays as the attacking ten, drifting into pockets of space to receive the ball on the half-turn. This heavy presence in the centre allows the team to recycle possession and win the second ball constantly.

In the final third, the team uses three forwards to pin the opposition back. Douvikas plays as the central striker, using his movement to find space and hold up the ball. Swedberg provides width on the left, while Aspas operates on the right wing. Aspas uses his vision and technical ability to cut inside and create chances for his teammates. The goal is to use the width of the pitch to stretch the defence, allowing the attackers to combine in tight spaces or hit in behind the back line.

This formation offers a massive advantage through numerical superiority in the midfield. By having five players centrally, Celta can easily outnumber opposition midfields and control the tempo. Another strength is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, which forces the opponent to play long balls.
