Starting Lineup

Burian · Maroš · Vodera · Makky · Vadovič · Boledovič (C) · Lazovský · Charvát · Havlík · Šulák · Záhorák

A focus on defensive solidity and quick transitions defines Šamorín and their 5-3-2 formation. This lineup is built to sit deep and absorb pressure before hitting opponents with direct verticality. By using a heavy defensive base, the team can absorb heavy periods of possession and look to exploit spaces behind the opposition.

Burian guards the goal as the last line of defense. The back line operates as a back five with Boledovič acting as the central anchor to clear the lines. Vodera sits as the right centre back to provide cover, while Makky occupies the left centre back role to manage the zone. Maroš plays as a right wing back to provide width and track back when needed, whereas Vadovič performs the same role on the left. This unit can drop into a low block to deny space between the lines.

The midfield consists of a three man unit that works to protect the central zone. Charvát operates in the middle to link the defence and attack, while Lazovský and Havlík occupy the left and right central midfield slots. These players must work to win the second ball and recycle possession once it is regained. Lazovský and Havlík are tasked to press in a mid block to prevent the opposition from turning easily. This trio must stay compact to ensure the opposition cannot play through the lines.

The attack relies on a partnership of two forwards. Záhorák and Šulák operate as the two strikers, looking to run in behind the defence. They often play in combinations to pull defenders out of position, creating gaps for the midfielders to exploit. The team looks to find the feet of the striker to hold up the ball before the wing backs join the move. When the team wins the ball high up the pitch, Záhorák and Šulák immediately press the opposition back line to force a long ball.

Šamorín gains a clear advantage through their defensive compactness when defending. The formation allows the team to create wide overloads when Maroš and Vadovič push forward into the attacking third. This setup also makes it difficult for opponents to find space in the half spaces, as the three central midfielders and three central defenders create a wall of players.

This 5-3-2 formation is a resilient way to play for Šamorín. It is best suited for games against dominant sides where the team needs to stay compact and hit on the transition.
