Šamorín Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Burian · Maroš · Vodera · Makky · Baka · Boledovič (C) · Lazovský · Charvát · Havlík · Šulák · ZáhorákŠamorín focuses on being defensively solid and playing a low block, utilizing a 5-4-1 formation. This lineup is built to deny space between the lines and wait for the right moment to hit in behind on the transition. The goal is to make the team hard to break down and rely on a compact defensive unit to frustrate the opposition.
Burian starts between the posts to command his area. The back line consists of a central trio with Boledovič acting as the main presence in the middle. Vodera plays as the right centre back to cover the space behind the wing back, while Makky occupies the left centre back spot. Maroš operates as an attacking wing back on the right to provide width, and Baka plays as the left wing back to support the defensive block. This unit works to sit deep and squeeze the space when the ball enters the final third.
The midfield functions as a flat line of four to protect the back five. Charvát and Havlík work as the central pair to shield the defence and win the second ball. Charvát sits closer to the pivot position to disrupt play, while Havlík looks to carry the ball forward to connect the lines. On the flanks, Záhorák and Lazovský stay wide to provide outlets and track back to help the wing backs. This four-man block ensures that Šamorín remains narrow when defending in a mid-block.
In the attacking phase, Šamorín relies on a lone striker, Šulák, to lead the line. Šulák must hold up the ball to allow the midfield to push up or use his movement to run in behind the opposition defenders. The width comes from Maroš and Baka as they overlap the wide midfielders to deliver crosses into the box. The team builds attacks through quick transitions, looking to spread wide and find the feet of the striker as quickly as possible.
This formation offers several tactical advantages for Šamorín. The five-man defence provides extreme compactness when defending deep, making it difficult for opponents to find gaps. The team also benefits from wide overloads when Maroš and Záhorák combine to push the opposition back. This allows the side to remain solid while still having the tools to counter at pace.
The 5-4-1 formation provides a very disciplined defensive foundation for Šamorín. It is best suited for games against teams that dominate possession where the goal is to deny space and strike on the break.
