Beside him, Sara and Mertens operate in the half spaces to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Sara can carry the ball forward to drive into the attack, while Mertens looks to play through the lines with precise passing. Jakobs and Baris act as wing backs, providing width and covering the flanks to ensure the team remains hard to break down.

Galatasaray employs two forwards in a partnership to lead the line. Osimhen works as a pressing centre forward, using his pace to hit in behind on the transition. He is often paired with Icardi, who plays as a more traditional striker to hold up the ball and link up play between the lines. This duo creates constant movement, with Osimhen making runs in behind to stretch the defence while Icardi looks to arrive late into the box. The wing backs, Jakobs and Baris, provide much needed width by pushing high to deliver crosses into the area.
