In goal, mert stays alert to organize the defensive unit. The back line functions as a flat back four that can shift left or right depending on the ball. Svenson acts as a right back to provide width, while Masuaku plays as an attacking left back to push up the flank. In the center, Paulista serves as a ball playing defender with high aerial strength to win the header in box situations. Udokhai provides cover and works alongside him to defend zonally and keep the line high.

The midfield relies on a double pivot to control the center. Musrati sits deep to shield the defense and act as a deep lying playmaker with a great passing range. Gedson works as a carrier to drive forward with the ball and win the second ball. Ahead of them, Rafa operates in the half spaces to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Rashica and Joao occupy the wide areas in the midfield five, with Rashica looking to stretch the defense and Joao finding pockets of space to play through the lines.
