Starting Lineup

SK Rapid looks to win the ball high up the pitch and attack with extreme verticality using a 2-4-4 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm the opposition through a heavy press and rapid transitions. The intent is to pin the opponent in their own half and create constant chaos in the final third.

Hedl stays between the posts to manage the defensive line. The back line consists of a narrow pair of central defenders in Raux Yao and Cvetkovic. These two must defend man-to-man when the team is stretched and act as the primary cover when the midfield is bypassed. Because there are only two defenders, they often have to defend large spaces and clear the lines quickly when the high press is broken.

The midfield works in a central block to squeeze the space. Bolla and J. Auer act as a double pivot to shield the two central defenders and win the second ball. Bolla provides the grit to tackle and intercept, while J. Auer connects the defensive and attacking lines. Moving ahead, Oswald and Børkeeiet operate in the half-spaces to drive forward with the ball and link the midfield to the front four. They must be ready to press aggressively to win the ball back immediately after a turnover.

The attacking line features four players designed to stretch the defence. Jansson and Seidl act as wide wingers who stay high to pull the opposition full backs out of position. In the center, Beljo and Mmaee operate as two forwards in a partnership to battle the opposition centre backs. This pair works to hold up the ball and find the feet of the oncoming midfielders. The team attacks in combinations to find gaps, often looking to hit in behind on the transition once the midfield recovers possession.

SK Rapid gains a significant advantage through the numerical superiority in the attacking line. Having four players close to the opposition goal makes it hard for a back four to defend without being pulled out of position. The ability to press high in coordinated waves from the front four allows the team to win the ball in dangerous areas. This high intensity forces the opponent to play long, allowing the defenders to contest headers.
