PSG focuses on a high press and rapid transitions through a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to control large areas of the pitch and use width to stretch the opposition. The tactical identity centers on winning the ball high up the pitch and moving it quickly into the final third to catch defensive lines out of position.

Gianluigi Donnarumma acts as the foundation in goal for PSG. The defensive unit operates with a back three consisting of Marquinhos, Lucas Beraldo, and Willian Pacho. Marquinhos operates as a right center back with his ability to read the game and cover space, while Pacho occupies the left center back spot to provide physical strength. Lucas Beraldo plays as the central defender to help play out from the back. This back three provides a solid base that can shift into a wider coverage when the wing backs push up.

In the middle of the pitch, the team uses a two man midfield to connect the lines. Vitinha operates as a deep lying playmaker who can recycle possession and find teammates through the lines. Fabian Ruiz provides support in the center to win the second ball and help the team progress through the thirds. The midfield unit must work hard to cover the space left behind when the wide players move forward. Vitinha often drops deeper to receive the ball from the defenders and initiate the build up play.

The attacking unit features three players across the front to pin the last defender. Bradley Barcola stays wide on the left as an inverted winger to cut inside and threaten the goal, while Ousmane Dembélé occupies the right flank to use his dribbling style to beat defenders one on one. Kolo Muani leads the line as a pressing center forward to disrupt the opposition build up. The goal is to create runs in behind and use the width provided by the wing backs to deliver crosses into the box.

This formation offers significant advantages through wide overloads. Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes act as attacking wing backs to provide constant width and overlap the wingers. This creates numerical superiority in the wide areas and makes it difficult for opponents to defend the flanks. The team also benefits from a high press that can force a long ball and allow the back three to reclaim possession quickly.

The 3-4-3 lineup is designed to dominate possession and attack with intensity through the wide channels. This setup is best suited for games against teams that play a high defensive line or struggle to track runners in the half spaces.
