Šamorín Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Burian · Maroš · Podkonický · Vodera · Baka · Boledovič ("C") · Janitor · Charvát · Havlík · Šulák · ZáhorákŠamorín relies on a defensive identity to soak up pressure and strike on the break using a 5-3-2. This formation is built to play a direct style of football that focuses on being compact and hard to break down. By keeping the lines tight, the team aims to frustrate opponents before using the speed of their attackers to exploit spaces in transition.
In goal, Burian acts as the last line of defense. The back line works as a narrow defensive block consisting of three central defenders and two wing backs. Boledovič sits in the middle of the three, acting as the main presence to win the header and clear the lines. Podkonický plays as the right-sided center back to cover the space behind the wing back, while Vodera occupies the left-sided center back role. Maroš operates as the right wing back to provide width and track back when needed, whereas Baka plays as the left wing back to stretch the opposition. This unit functions to stay narrow and force opponents wide.
The midfield utilizes a three-man midfield with a carrier to connect the lines. Charvát sits centrally to help recycle possession and maintain the balance of the unit. Janitor plays on the left side of the midfield trio to press aggressively and win the ball high up the pitch. Havlík occupies the right side of the midfield to drive forward with the ball and link the defense to the attack. These players must work hard to squeeze the space between the midfield and the defensive line to prevent the opposition from playing through the lines.
The attacking unit relies on two forwards in a partnership to lead the line. Záhorák and Šulák work together to pressure the opposition back line and make runs in behind. They often play as a duo that looks to receive long balls or play one-two combinations to move past the final defender. The formation is designed to create runs in behind and use the width provided by Maroš and Baka to deliver crosses into the box. The forwards must hold up the ball to allow the midfield to push forward during transitions.
Šamorín offers several tactical advantages through this lineup. The five defenders create a very compact shape that is difficult to penetrate through the middle. The team can also create wide overloads when the wing backs push high up the pitch to support the attackers. This allows for quick transitions where the ball moves from the defensive block to the two forwards in seconds.
This 5-3-2 formation provides a solid platform for Šamorín to defend deep and hit teams on the counter. It is best suited for matches against dominant teams that control large amounts of possession.
