Timber operate in the half spaces as two attacking midfielders. Schouten looks to receive on the half turn and play through the lines, while J. Timber uses his driving runs to push the team into the final third.

In the attacking third, the front four create pressure for the opposition. Malen and Simons play as wide wingers, with Malen stretching the defense on the left and Simons looking to cut inside from the right. The central presence is provided by Gravenberch and Zirkzee working as a forward partnership. Gravenberch acts as a pressing centre forward to trigger a press from the front, while Zirkzee works to hold up the ball and lay it off to his teammates. The team relies on quick combinations and running in behind to create scoring chances.

This formation provides significant numerical superiority in the attacking areas. The Netherlands can overwhelm opponents by flooding the final third with four players, making it difficult for defenders to mark everyone.
