Zamalek Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Sobhi (Awad/Shenawy/Abdelaziz) · Mathlouthi (Zenary) · Wensh (Ismael/Abdelmaguid) · Bentayg (Fatouh/Hamdi) · Gaber (Mahmoud) · Shehata (Dounga/Djire) · Pizarro (Kamal/Sayed) · El-Said (Maher) · Zizo (Shika/Atef) · Huerta (Shalaby/Banouby) · Boupendza (Faraj/Ashraf)Zamalek look to control games through a high press and quick transitions using a 4-3-3. This formation is built to press the opponent high and use wide areas to stretch the defence. The goal for Zamalek is to win the ball back quickly and move the ball through the lines to isolate defenders.
Sobhi operates between the posts to sweep behind the defensive line. The back four consists of Gaber at right back and Bentayg at left back, both tasked to push up and provide width. Mathlouthi and Wensh form the central pairing, where Mathlouthi focuses on winning the header while Wensh covers the space behind when the line steps up. This unit works together to keep the lines tight and force a long ball from the opposition.
The midfield operates with a three man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten. Pizarro and Shehata sit in the middle to connect the defensive and attacking lines, with Pizarro acting to shield the defence while Shehata carries the ball forward. El-Said plays in the hole as the attacking ten, looking to find the feet of the striker or arrive late into the box. This group works to compress the midfield and win it back high up the pitch.
Up front, the team uses three attackers across the front to pin the last defender. Zizo plays as an inverted winger on the right, cutting inside to create chances, while Huerta stays wide on the left to cross on the run. Boupendza acts as the lone striker, tasked to hold up the ball and find space to run in behind. The forwards press from the front to force the opposition into mistakes in their own half.
The main advantage of this lineup is the ability to create wide overloads when Gaber and Bentayg overlap the winger. Zamalek also benefit from the numerical superiority in midfield when El-Said drops deep to help Pizarro and Shehata. This allows the team to recycle possession and switch play effectively to find the free man.
This 4-3-3 formation relies on high energy and quick ball movement to dominate the pitch. It is best suited for games against teams that play a high line or struggle to handle intense pressing.
