Nice Football Formation
Starting Lineup
E. Guessand · Mohamed-Ali Cho · Sofiane Diop · M. Bard · H. Boudaoui · D. Archibong · A. Mendy · M. Abdelmonem · M. Bombïto · Y. Ndayishimiye · M. BulkaNice aim to play a high press with quick transitions using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to win the ball high up the pitch and strike before the opposition can settle. The team wants to use wide areas to stretch the defence and create chances through direct movement.
M. Bulka acts as the goalkeeper to start the build up. The back line functions as a back three with M. Bombïto, M. Abdelmonem, and Y. Ndayishimiye. M. Abdelmonem and Y. Ndayishimiye cover the wide areas of the defensive line while M. Bombïto sits in the middle to defend zonally. This unit stays compact to prevent through balls and relies on the defenders to step up and squeeze the space when the ball is played in the middle.
In the middle of the pitch, Nice employs a four man midfield that uses the wings to provide width. H. Boudaoui and D. Archibong work in the center to protect the back three and connect the defensive and attacking lines. H. Boudaoui looks to drive forward with the ball to break the line. M. Bard and A. Mendy act as wide midfielders who provide the width and support the attackers. They must track back to help the defenders and ensure the team maintains a solid mid block when out of possession.
The attacking unit uses three attackers across the front to pin the opposition back line. E. Guessand plays as the central striker to hold up the ball and provide a presence in the box. Sofiane Diop and Mohamed-Ali Cho operate as inverted wingers who cut inside to create more central presence. These forwards press from the front to force a long ball and try to win it back high up the pitch. The goal is to create runs in behind or use the wide midfielders to deliver crosses into the box.
One tactical advantage of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. By having three attackers and two wide midfielders pushing up, Nice can quickly win the ball back. Another strength is the flexibility to use the wide midfielders to create wide overloads against a back four. This makes it difficult for the opposition to defend both the center and the flanks at the same time.
Nice utilizes a high intensity style designed to overwhelm opponents in transition. This 3-4-3 is best suited for games against teams that play a high line or struggle to play out from the back.
