Arsenal play with a high press and heavy possession intent through a 4-3-3 formation. This lineup is built to control the ball and squeeze the opponent in their own half. By keeping players close together, the Gunners look to dominate the ball and quickly win it back when it is lost.

Raya acts as the goalkeeper, often playing short from the back to start the build up. The back line operates as a flat back four with White on the right and Timber on the left. Gabriel and Saliba form the central defensive pairing, where Saliba uses his composure to play out from the back while Gabriel is dominant in the air. The unit can step up to set the offside trap, maintaining a high line to compress the space for the opposition.

The midfield consists of a three-man midfield with a single pivot. Jorginho sits in the deepest role to shield the defence and recycle possession. Beside him, Rice and Partey operate as two eight roles that connect the defensive and attacking lines. Rice is known for his driving runs and ability to cover ground, while Partey helps to control the tempo. These players work to win the second ball and ensure the team maintains control in the middle of the pitch.

Arsenal use three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. Saka plays as an inverted winger on the right, frequently cutting inside to find goalscoring opportunities. On the left, Martinelli or Sterling provide width or threaten to run in behind the opposition line. Havertz or Jesus lead the line, with Havertz often acting to link up play between the lines or find the feet of the striker. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition.

This formation offers Arsenal significant numerical superiority in midfield during the build up phase. They can also create wide overloads when White or Timber overlap the winger to cross. The ability to press high in coordinated waves allows them to win it back high up the pitch and attack quickly.

This 4-3-3 formation is designed to dominate possession and control the rhythm of the match. It is best suited for games where Arsenal want to pin the opponent back and dictate the play.
