Šamorín Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Eze · Vodera · Podkonický · Makky · Vadovič · Boledovič ("C") · Cserepkai · Kán · Charvát · Havlík · ŠulákŠamorín aims to play a direct and counter attacking style of football using a 5-3-2 formation. This lineup focuses on a compact defensive unit that can quickly transition into attack once the ball is won. The team looks to sit deep and draw the opposition forward before hitting them with pace in behind.
Eze plays between the posts to organize the defensive line. The back line functions as a deep defensive block with Boledovič acting as the central anchor. Podkonický sits as the right centre back while Makky occupies the left centre back position to provide coverage. Vodera and Vadovič operate as attacking wing backs who provide the necessary width. Vodera pushes high up the flank to support the attack, while Vadovič must track back to ensure the team remains solid in a back five.
The midfield works as a three man midfield with a carrier to link the lines. Charvát sits in the middle to shield the defence and recycle possession. Kán and Cserepkai operate on either side to win the second ball and drive forward with the ball into the half spaces. This trio works to compress the midfield when the team does not have the ball. They look to intercept passes and immediately find the forwards to start a break.
Šamorín uses two forwards in a partnership to stretch the opposition defence. Šulák plays as the left striker and works to make runs in behind the defensive line. Havlík plays as the right striker to hold up the ball and bring others into play. The attackers press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. When the wing backs push up, the two strikers often combine in tight spaces to create chances or pull wide to isolate defenders.
This formation offers great compactness when defending in a low block. The use of attacking wing backs like Vodera and Vadovič creates wide overloads during transitions. Šamorín can also benefit from the speed of transition when Kán and Cserepkai win the ball and look to hit in behind the opposition.
The 5-3-2 formation provides Šamorín with a reliable way to defend against teams that dominate possession. It is best suited for matches where the team needs to sit deep and strike on the counter at pace.
