Cameroon focuses on a compact and direct identity using a 4-5-1 formation. This lineup is built to sit in a mid-block, absorb pressure, and hit teams on the transition. The team looks to win the ball in the middle third and quickly move it forward to exploit spaces left behind by attacking opponents.

A.Onana plays between the posts, acting as a key figure for Cameroon in organizing the back line. The defense operates as a flat back four with Nouhou and J.Tchatchoua acting as full backs who must track back to cover wide areas. C.Wooh and H.Moukoudi form the central pairing, where they must defend zonally and win the second ball to prevent opposition penetration. This defensive unit works together to maintain a compact distance between the lines, ensuring there are no large gaps for the opponent to exploit.

The midfield is a crowded five-man unit designed to control the central zones. C.Baleba acts as the single pivot, shielding the defense and working to intercept passes. Beside him, A.Zambo-Anguissa and B.Elliott operate in the half spaces to link the defense to the attack. A.Zambo-Anguissa uses his ability to carry the ball forward to move the team up the pitch, while B.Elliott provides energy to press in a mid-block. Further up, B.Mbeumo and C.Bassogog act as wide midfielders who must contribute defensively before looking to spread wide and create chances.

In the attacking phase, the team relies on a lone striker, V.Aboubakar (C), who leads the line. As captain, V.Aboubakar uses his aerial strength and ability to hold up the ball to bring others into play. B.Mbeumo and C.Bassogog provide the primary width, looking to cut inside or deliver crosses into the box. The attack is built through quick vertical passes that aim to find V.Aboubakar in behind the opposition defense or allow the wide players to arrive late into the box.

This formation offers several tactical advantages, such as a high level of compactness when defending in a mid-block. The midfield unit can easily congest the center to deny the opponent any space between the lines. Furthermore, the team can exploit speed of transition by using the mobility of B.Mbeumo and C.Bassogog to stretch the defense once the ball is won.
