Focusing on a high intensity and direct style of play, Como utilizes a 2-4-4 formation. This lineup is built to stretch the opposition and create chaos in the final third through constant movement. The goal is to win the ball high up the pitch and drive forward immediately to catch the defense off guard.

Audero sits between the posts to organize the back line and sweep behind the defenders. The defensive unit consists of a narrow two man central defense with Engelhardt and Dossena acting as the primary blockers. They must defend zonally and stay tight to prevent through balls. Because there are no full backs, Engelhardt and Dossena are required to cover vast amounts of space and step up to intercept play before the opposition can exploit the wide areas.

In the middle of the pitch, the team employs a double pivot to control the central zone. Moreno and Van der Brempt work as a pairing to shield the defense and recycle possession. Moreno acts to break the line with his passing, while Van der Brempt stays deeper to pick up runners. Ahead of them, Perrone and Braunöder operate as two tens in the half spaces. Perrone looks to link the midfield and attack, while Braunöder uses his energy to press aggressively and win the ball back high.

The attack is extremely aggressive with four players pushing high against the opposition back line. Cutrone and Belotti operate as two forwards in a partnership, often looking to link up play between the lines. Cutrone provides a physical presence to hold up the ball, while Belotti looks to make runs in behind. On the flanks, Strefezza and Da Cunha act as wide wingers who stretch the defense by hugging the touchline. This positioning creates space in the middle for Perrone and Braunöder to arrive late into the box.

One major tactical advantage for Como is the ability to press high in coordinated waves, making it difficult for opponents to build out from the back. The formation also offers speed of transition by using the wide players to immediately hit in behind on the transition. By occupying so many advanced positions, the team can pin the last defender and create numerous one on one situations for the wingers.

This 2-4-4 formation is a high risk, high reward system centered on verticality and offensive pressure. It is best suited for matches where Como needs to overwhelm a deep defensive block or exploit a vulnerable opponent in transition.
