Pizarro provides energy to protect the back four. The trio ahead of them consists of C. Zavala, D. Valdés, and C. Palacios. D. Valdés works to connect the defensive and attacking lines, while C. Palacios and C. Zavala look to drive forward with the ball and occupy the half spaces. This midfield group focuses on winning the ball high up the pitch and recycling possession to keep the opposition under pressure.

Up front, J. Correa operates as a lone striker. He must work hard as a pressing centre-forward to harass the opposition back line and force errors. The attack relies on the midfielders to support him, often through runs from deep or wide players pushing into the final third. When Colo Colo wins the ball, the goal is to find the feet of the striker or use his hold up the ball skills to bring the advancing midfielders into the game.
