PSG Football Formation
Starting Lineup
AI · DDaDac · Won · LEE_soonmoong · JANGGO0110 · HanWooRa · panch25 · SkaGoGo · AI · Jay · AutonomoustPSG plays a very aggressive, vertical style of football. They look to overwhelm the opposition with numbers forward in a 4-2-4 formation. This lineup is built to attack quickly and pin the last defender with a heavy front line.
AI sits between the posts to command the area. The defensive line consists of a flat back four. DDaDac plays as the right back to hold the flank, while HanWooRa operates as the left back. In the middle, LEE_soonmoong and AI act as the central defenders to protect the box. LEE_soonmoong and AI must cover the space behind the midfield when the team loses the ball. They work together to clear the lines and win the second ball when the opposition attempts to play out from the back.
The midfield functions as a double pivot to provide stability. Autonomoust and JANGGO0110 occupy the central roles to control the middle of the pitch. To shield the defense and intercept passes, Autonomoust relies on his positioning. JANGGO0110 looks to carry the ball forward and link the defense to the attack. This pair must be disciplined to prevent the opposition from hitting in behind on the transition in the spaces left by the attacking players. They are responsible for recycling possession and finding the feet of the strikers to keep the pressure on.
The attack is extremely direct with four players pushing high. Won and SkaGoGo act as wide wingers, with SkaGoGo staying wide to stretch the defense and Won looking to cut inside. In the center, panch25 and Jay act as a strike partnership. Both panch25 and Jay press the opposition back line from the front to force a long ball. This formation creates many chances for runs in behind and allows the wingers to whip it in for the two strikers. The movement of Won and SkaGoGo creates wide overloads when the full backs push up.
Paris Saint-Germain offers significant danger through their ability to attack in transition. By using a 4-2-4, they create huge pressure on the opposition defense. The presence of panch25 and Jay allows for quick combinations in tight spaces to break the line. Additionally, the wide players can isolate defenders in one on one situations, making the team very hard to defend against when they move the ball quickly to the flanks.
This formation is a high risk, high reward lineup designed for heavy attacking. It is best suited for matches where PSG needs to break down a low block or chase a result against a weaker opponent.
