The midfield operates as a three-man midfield with a carrier and a playmaker. M.Shaparenko sits in the single pivot role to shield the defense and recycle possession. O.Zinchenko (C) acts as a deep lying playmaker with a great passing range, dropping between the centre backs to help play out from the back. G.Sudakov plays as an inverted eight, making late runs into the box and finding pockets of space to connect the lines. This trio works to compress the midfield and prevent the opponent from playing through the middle.

Ukraine uses three attackers across the front to stretch the defence. A.Dovbyk acts as the lone striker and a target man to hold up the ball and win the header. M.Mudryk plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and use his dribbling style to beat his man. V.Tsygankov operates on the right wing, looking to get to the byline or whip it in for the striker. The forwards press from the front to force a long ball and trigger a press from the midfield.

One major advantage for Ukraine is the ability to press high in coordinated waves. The presence of O.Zinchenko (C) allows the team to control the tempo and switch play quickly. The speed of transition is another strength, as M.Mudryk and V.Tsygankov can hit in behind on the transition to isolate wide players in one on one situations.

This 4-3-3 formation focuses on aggressive pressing and quick vertical attacks. It is best suited for games where the team can exploit space behind a high defensive line.
