Leeds focuses on a high press and a heavy offensive presence with a 2-5-3 formation. This lineup is built to overwhelm opponents by flooding the middle and attacking zones to force turnovers. The team aims to win the ball high up the pitch and use a massive attacking front to punish mistakes.

Down sits in goal to organize the defensive unit as they play with a very high line. The back line consists of a two man central defence where Frew and Duffield must act as covering defenders to protect against long balls. Since there are only two central defenders, they must stay narrow to defend the central area and step up to catch attackers offside. They function as a specialized pair that must be ready to sprint back if the initial press is bypassed.

The midfield is a dense five man block that controls the center of the pitch. Hart acts as the central anchor to shield the two defenders and recycle possession. In front of him, Sherwin and J. Baker operate as an inverted eight pairing to drive forward and win the second ball. Whipp and Swann operate in the half spaces as attacking midfielders to provide width and support the front three. This midfield group works to compress the space and ensure the opposition cannot play through the lines easily.

Leeds uses three attackers to stretch the defence across the pitch. Richmond plays as a lone striker to lead the line and hold up the ball for others. On the flanks, Harris and Coates act as wide wingers who stay high to pin the opposition full backs. Harris and Coates look to cut inside and create chances while Richmond makes runs in behind. The team builds the attack by moving the ball quickly through the midfield to find the wingers or the striker in combinations.

One major tactical strength of this formation is the ability to press high in coordinated waves to win it back high up the pitch. By having five players in the middle and three up front, Leeds can create numerical superiority in almost every zone of the final third. This allows the team to stay compact when they win the ball and immediately transition to attack. The wide overloads created by Whipp and Swann also make it difficult for opponents to defend the flanks.

This high risk high reward formation relies on winning the ball quickly in the opponent half. It is best suited for matches where Leeds can dominate possession and force the opposition into a deep block.
