Starting Lineup

Ferencváros aims to dominate the pitch through a high intensity offensive game using a 2-4-4 formation. This lineup relies on overwhelming the opposition with numbers in the final third and staying very high up the pitch to win the ball back immediately. The intention is to play a vertical game that bypasses the middle of the park to catch the opponent out of position.

Dibusz acts as the last line of defense in goal. The defensive unit consists of a narrow back two with Cisse and Szalai operating as central defenders. Cisse and Szalai must stay alert to cover the large space behind them as they often step up to engage attackers. Because there are no wide defenders, these two central defenders must be dominant in the air and ready to defend large amounts of space when the team loses possession.

The midfield operates with a double pivot consisting of Ćivić and Makreckis. These two players are tasked to sit deep and shield the two defenders behind them. Ćivić and Makreckis work to recycle possession and win the second ball in the center of the pitch. Ahead of them, Maïga and Abu Fani play as two tens in the half-spaces to connect the midfield to the heavy front line. Maïga and Abu Fani press aggressively to win the ball high up the pitch.

The attacking unit is massive, utilizing four forwards to stretch the opposition. Saldanha and Varga lead the line as two forwards in a partnership, with Saldanha acting as a physical presence to hold up the ball. Romdane and Traore operate as wide wingers who hug the touchline to pull the opposition defenders apart. This attacking group is designed to create runs in behind and allow the wide players to deliver crosses into the box for the two central strikers.

Ferencváros gains a major advantage through the sheer number of players in the attacking zone. This 2-4-4 formation creates immediate numerical superiority in the final third and allows for intense pressing in coordinated waves. By having four players close to the opposition defense, the team can force a long ball and win the ball back high up the pitch.
