Šamorín Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Burian · Maroš · Podkonický · Makky · Vodera · Boledovič ("C") · Charvát · Havlík · Šulák · Janitor · CserepkaiŠamorín aims to play a direct and aggressive style through a 5-2-3 formation. This lineup relies on quick transitions and heavy pressure to disrupt the opposition. The team is built to sit in a compact block and strike with speed when they win the ball back.
Burian stays between the posts to command the area. The defensive unit works as a back five. Boledovič sits in the middle as the central defender to win the header and clear the lines. Makky and Podkonický operate as the wide centre-backs to cover the space behind the wing backs. Maroš acts as an attacking wing back on the right to push high up the pitch, while Vodera provides width on the left. These defenders must hold the line and keep a narrow defensive block to deny the turn of any attacking players.
The midfield consists of a central pairing designed to control the middle third. Charvát and Havlík work to win the second ball and drive forward with the ball to progress through the thirds. Havlík helps to shield the defence while Charvát looks to connect the defensive and attacking lines. This two man midfield must press aggressively to win the ball high and prevent the opposition from playing through the lines. They are tasked with recycling possession and finding the feet of the striker quickly.
Šamorín uses three attackers to stretch the defence. Šulák operates as a pressing centre-forward to pin the last defender and hold up the ball. Cserepkai plays as an inverted winger on the left to cut inside and create chances, while Janitor stays wide on the right to provide width and deliver a cross. These forwards work to press the opposition back line from the front. The formation creates runs in behind as the wingers pull wide to create space for Šulák to find pockets of room.
One major advantage of this lineup is the ability to press high in coordinated waves when the front three trigger a press. The back five allows the team to maintain compactness when defending and prevents many through balls. This setup also offers the speed of transition needed to catch opponents out of position. By using the wing backs, Šamorín can create wide overloads to exploit the flanks.
This 5-2-3 formation is a heavy transition tool that relies on defensive solidity and wide width. It is best suited for matches against possession based teams where Šamorín can defend in a low block and counter at pace.
