Leeds play a direct style of football built around a heavy high press and rapid transitions using a 5-2-3 formation. Wood operates between the posts as the primary goalkeeper. The defensive unit functions with a back five consisting of J. Charlton, Kerfoot, and Cush in the central roles. J. Charlton provides aerial strength and stability in the middle of the defense. Kerfoot and Cush act as the wide centre backs to cover the channels. Dunn and Hair play as attacking wing backs who push high to provide width. Dunn is tasked with overlapping to support the right side while Hair covers the left flank. This defensive block can sit deep or push up to compress the space between the lines.

The midfield is a double pivot consisting of Crowe and Peyton. These two players are responsible for controlling the center of the pitch and protecting the back five. Peyton works to connect the defensive line to the attackers, while Crowe focuses on winning the second ball and driving forward when space allows. They must work hard to cover the gaps left by the advancing wing backs. The midfield links the defense to the attack by recycling possession or playing quick passes to the front three.

Leeds utilize three attackers across the front with Baird leading the line as a lone striker. Baird works to hold up the ball and pin the last defender to create room for others. Overfield and Meeks act as wide wingers who stay high to stretch the defense. Overfield looks to cut inside from the left to create goalscoring opportunities, while Meeks focuses on stretching the play on the right. The forwards press the opposition back line to force errors and win the ball in dangerous areas.

This formation offers specific tactical advantages such as numerical superiority in the defensive line and the ability to create wide overloads when Dunn and Hair push forward. The team can also transition very quickly from a mid-block to an attacking stance. By using the wing backs, Leeds can isolate Meeks and Overfield in one on one situations against full backs.
