Šamorín Football Formation
Starting Lineup
Eze · Baka · Podkonický · Makky · Vodera · Boledovič ("C") · Janitor · Havlík · Cserepkai · Záhorák · BoháčŠamorín aims to play a hard to beat brand of football through a compact 4-5-1. This formation is built to control the central areas and absorb pressure before hitting opponents on the break. By sitting in a mid-block, the team looks to congest the middle of the pitch and force the opposition to play wide.
Eze starts between the posts to manage the defensive unit. The back line consists of a flat back four with Baka and Vodera acting as the wide defenders. Baka and Vodera need to hold their position to keep the line straight, while Podkonický and Makky operate as the central pairing. Podkonický and Makky focus on defending zonally and winning the second ball to prevent quick attacks. The unit functions by staying narrow to deny space between the lines.
The midfield is a five man line designed to squeeze the space in the center. Havlík and Boledovič operate as a central pairing to protect the back four and recycle possession. Havlík helps to shield the defense while Boledovič looks to connect the defensive and attacking lines. Cserepkai plays as an attacking ten behind the striker to find pockets of space. Janitor and Záhorák occupy the wide areas to provide width and track back when the team loses the ball.
In the attacking phase, Boháč acts as a lone striker to lead the press from the front. He must hold up the ball to allow the midfielders to move forward. Cserepkai works in the hole to support him, often looking to play through the lines. Janitor and Záhorák pull wide to stretch the defense and provide options for a cross. The attack relies on quick combinations and running in behind the opposition back line once the ball is won.
This lineup offers great compactness when defending in a mid-block. Šamorín can use the wide players to create overloads if the full backs push up. The presence of Cserepkai in the hole allows the team to transition quickly from defense to attack. Having five players in the middle makes it difficult for opponents to play through the center.
The 4-5-1 setup is ideal for a team looking to stay solid against dominant sides. This formation works best when the team can sit deep and strike with speed on the transition.
