Starting Lineup

Manchester United aims to control games through high pressing and quick transitions using a 3-4-3 formation. This lineup is built to dominate the pitch by squeezing the space in the opposition half and using verticality to catch teams out of position. CF/ST starts in goal to act as a sweeper keeper during build up. The defensive unit consists of a back three. The midfield operates with a double pivot to provide stability and link the defense to the attack. RDM and LDM sit in front of the back three to shield the defense and win the second ball. They work to recycle possession and find the wide players quickly. In front of them, RAM and LAM act as wide midfielders who provide the width. RAM operates on the right side while LAM stays on the left. These two players must track back to help the defense while also being ready to carry the ball forward into the final third.

Manchester United uses three attackers to stretch the defence. The front line features LW on the left and RW on the right, both acting as inverted wingers who cut inside to create chaos in the box. Morden GK operates as the lone striker and looks to find the feet of the striker or make runs in behind. The wingers and the striker press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. This front three moves in combinations to pull defenders out of position and create space for late runs.

This formation offers significant tactical advantages through its ability to press high in coordinated waves. By using the wingers and the striker to trigger a press, the team can win the ball in dangerous areas. The double pivot provides a solid base that allows the wide midfielders to push high and create wide overloads. This creates a situation where the team can quickly switch play to isolate a one on one wide if the opposition shifts too far to one side.
