Starting Lineup

East Bengal plays with a high press and vertical intent using a 4-3-3. This formation is built to hunt the ball high up the pitch and move quickly toward the goal once possession is regained. The team looks to stretch the pitch and use pace to punish opponents in transition.

Debjit stays between the posts to organize the defensive line. The back four consists of Provat at right back and Nishu at left back, while Hector and Anwar operate as the central defenders. Hector provides aerial strength, while Anwar stays close to the center to cover space. Provat and Nishu are expected to push up to support the attack, leaving the two center backs to defend the space behind them. The unit must hold a high line to keep the team compact.

The midfield works as a three man midfield with a carrier and an attacking ten behind the striker. Soul and Jikson act as the engines in the middle, with Jikson looking to win the second ball and Soul driving forward to carry the ball forward. Talal operates as the attacking ten, playing in the hole to find pockets of space and connect the lines. This trio must work to squeeze the space in the center and prevent the opposition from playing through the middle.

In the final third, East Bengal uses three attackers across the front. Dimitrios acts as the lone striker, often looking to find the feet of the striker or run in behind the defense. Nanda and Vishnu stay wide to provide width, with Nanda cutting inside to act as an inverted winger while Vishnu stays closer to the touchline. The forwards are tasked to press from the front to force a long ball from the opposition. They look to create chances through quick combinations and cutbacks.

This lineup offers several tactical advantages. The team can create wide overloads from the overlapping full backs when Nishu and Provat join the attack. There is also a significant threat in the speed of transition, allowing the front three to exploit gaps left by retreating defenders. The presence of Talal in the half spaces allows the team to find ways to play through the lines during the buildup.
